Just wondering if there are any plans to do proprietary iPhone implementation with Push, eX'other'ange-esq ?
It seems like we are getting asked every day for iPhone support much more than we ever were for blackberry or windows mobile.
I know there is support via imap and that is what we're using; but it's just not as slick as the eX'other'ange implementation.
Major drawbacks to imap 1) No Push 2) When using outlook (necessary evil I'm afraid) only the legacy <2Gb PST format can be used. Not always possible when users have >2Gb PST's and refuse to split / archive them. 3) Again I know this is Outlook but the annoying way outlook draws a line through deleted emails using IMAP, rather than deleting them, I know you can hide them then purge the folders manually...
It all add's up to us starting to put in SBS (under duress I might add) where iPhone's are required, and where we would much prefer to use FTG.
Yes I think they would, I've spoken to two, just to get a feel for an end user opinion; they both felt they would pay €100-€200 for an iPhone plug in. One left it at that but the other did say assuming it also supported synching for contacts & calendar with outlook.
could also be interested in an iPhone app as the costs of that may be better than having to implement anything like Exchange or SBS as we're trying to move away from anything Win Server based. our business database is now in the cloud so the more we can move away from internal servers the better.
