Hello,

Just noticed a dozen or so emails were rejected by out new FTGate Relay server yesterday with the error 560 5.6.0 Too many addresses in header (#4.55)?

The messages look like they're only going to one recipient so I don't understand why they're getting rejected.

Thanks,

Kevin.

Too many addresses in the header.. not in the envelope.
This means (usually) that someone is sending out a bulk email and listing every receipient in the header. So their either a spammer or using an Outlook distribution.

Bulk sends like this break the UK data protection act as it distributes contact details willy nilly to other people without consent.

exactly - but trying to prevent it is a nightmare! charity circulars, joke mails, stupid mailers...you can even tell people that they're in the wrong but they do nothing about it.
